The client for this project was interested in redesigning their rear yard and adjacent side driveway space. The goal of the project was to create a unified, continuously flowing landscape combining multiple program elements. The design used various surface materials such as permeable pavers, bluestone, wood, and plantings in a composition of overlapping forms to create smooth transitions from one space to another. Some of the major design features included an angled wood platform that transitioned into a raised garden along the rear side of the yard. Custom wood screen/trellis elements where placed in two locations to hide a compost/rain barrel area and a trash area. To help solve drainage issues, a dry well was installed in the rear lawn area and permeable pavers in-filled with gravel were used in the drive.
