This project consisted of the design and construction of a new master plan for a residential rear yard space. The main element in the new design is a cascading mahogany deck with integrated seating and planting beds (replacing an existing deteriorating deck). The new deck transitions between the elevated lst floor level of the adjacent house down to a lower backyard level. The deck is designed to be more open than the previous one and create a stronger, more transparent connection to the backyard. At the bottom of the deck is a paved plaza, enclosed on its opposite side by a mahogany bench/ trellis/ water feature element. Paved walkways enter the backyard from each side. Plantings along the backyard perimeter enclose a central lawn space.
