The clients for this project were looking to improve the main entrance experience into their home. Set back and located along the side, the main entrance was not clearly identifiable from the front nor was the experience getting there welcoming. To solve this problem the project made an entrance statement/gesture in the form of a bluestone arrival pad that punctuated the existing asphalt drive in the front yard. This immediately announced to visitors were they should begin the entrance experience and redirected them toward the side of the home. Along the side was an informal path of bluestone slabs set in a landscape of lush shade tolerant shrubs and ground covers. The path continued on to the main entrance space which consisted of a new composite wood deck with a custom mahogany wood railing.
